Packing Cassia Cinnamon for Export Purposes
The process of producing high-quality cassia cinnamon for exports contains many steps. In which packing cassia cinnamon is a crucial step to keep the quality of this spice. In this post, we show you about the packing process of cassia cinnamon in Vietnam.
1. Quality control of Cassia Cinnamon
To ensure the quality of cassia products meets the export standard, quality control is necessary. Normally, producers check the following factors of cassia:
- Appearance: Producers check the color, thickness, and rolls of the cinnamon. Based on each type of cassia and customers’ demand, there is a specific standard.
- Moisture: Ensure the moisture of the cassia cinnamon meets the standards. Normally, 13% of the moisture is acceptable.
- Quality: They check the taste and aroma of the cinnamon
For more information, producers make a detailed test for the index of cassia cinnamon such as oil content, impurity, coumarin content, fumigation, styrene, etc…
2. Packing process of Cassia Cinnamon
There are various kinds of cassia cinnamon, and there is a suitable way of packing for each kind. Nowadays, there are 2 common packaging materials for cassia PP bags and carton boxes.
PP bags: People use PP bags for packing cinnamon, due to their good bearing capacity and moisture-proof. They often pack cassia powder, and broken cassia in PP bags because these kinds of cassia are small. To preserve better, they also add a layer of nylon for a more air-tight environment.
Carton boxes: People use carton boxes to pack bigger sizes of cassia cinnamon. For example, they pack whole tube cassia, stick cassia, cigarette cassia, split cassia and pressed cassia in carton boxes. Due to its long and straight shape, it’s better to put these kinds of cassia in a square space than inside a bag. For better moisture-proof, producers add desiccant to the boxes of cassia cinnamon.
Packaging specifications
Weight: Depending on customer and market requirements. Producers provide OEM service so that their customers can order packing cassia cinnamon in any weight. Normally, they pack cassia in 20 – 30 kg per carton box to ensure the ideal way that the cassia will not be broken.
Labeling: Each label package should be clear, with full product information such as product name, weight, production date, expiry date, origin, manufacturer…
By strictly following the above procedures, producers ensure that Vietnamese cassia cinnamon is of high quality, meeting the requirements of the international market.
